For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Today, over 4,100 Clubs serve over 4 million young people through Club membership and community outreach. Clubs are located in cities, towns, public housing and on Native lands throughout the country, and serve military families in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide.
Clubs provide a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun and friendship, and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Club programs promote academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. In a Harris Survey of alumni, 54 percent said the Club saved their lives. National headquarters are located in Atlanta. Learn more about our local Club on Facebook.
Our Club's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The first Club was established in 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut. Learn more about the Boys & Girls Club story here. Our club was established in 1944 as part of the Salvation Army.
Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs serve nearly 4 million kids and teens. Our vision is to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
Every day, 11.3 million kids (1 out of 4) leave school with no place to go. And every summer, 43 million kids lack access to summer learning programs. This means that millions of our nation’s youth risk being unsupervised, unguided and unsafe. However, research shows that what happens during the out-of-school time can have a significant impact on reversing the negative trends facing youth, including dropout rates, obesity and violence. And that’s what Boys & Girls Clubs are all about – providing youth with a safe, constructive, supportive environment when they are not at home or at school, where they can have fun with peers and be guided by trained youth development professionals.
Our Boys & Girls Club serves youth ages 5-18 from all communities and walks of life located in the Johnson City and Washington County area. We serve kids from all the surrounding schools as well as the home-school community. Clubs are located wherever youth most need them, including rural and urban areas, public housing communities, public and private schools, and Native lands. Clubs also serve military-connected youth through BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide.
Our Club serves school age kids and teens between ages 5 – 18. We also offer organized sports programs for Pre-K kids from 3-5yrs old.
